Whats going in Haryana
BJP's Central Election Committee on Saturday met in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss and decide on its candidates for the remaining 47 seats in Haryana for the October 15 Assembly elections. BJP had declared candidates for 43 of the total 90 seats in the last meeting of Central Election Committee on September 9.
The AAP literally forced even the BJP to take up Vadra issue ahead of recent Lok Sabha elections.
Election is a big family business in Haryana. It is a fact that politics is controlled by only a handful of families in many other states, not just in Haryana. But the involvement of some political families is much deeper in Haryana.
With just 90 Assembly constituencies, Haryana is not a big state but its politics is extremely competitive with a host of regional parties having the power to change the fortunes of their bigger rivals. The state has seen a small group of families - the Chautalas, Lals and Hoodas - controlling the state politics.
The main contest would be a triangular one between Congress, INLD and BJP, if there is no tie up between INLD and BJP.
